The Trash Pandas 2023 Roster
#3 – Sayles Guy
Sayles Guy joined the Trash Pandas as a rookie early in 2022, although conflicts with work and baseball limited his availability early in the season. When he made it to the rink, he made it count, though, finishing with 10 HR in just 74 plate appearances, a .343 batting average and a 1.196 OPS. He returns for the 2023 season intending to hopefully at least double his games played total.
#8 – Kadishak
Kadishak was the first rookie free agent signed by the Trash Pandas in the 2021-22 offseason…and much like the 2021 Pandas, promptly tore his ACL. He still attended virtually all of the early season Pandas games, making the three-player nights slightly more tolerable by keeping book and tracking pitch counts. Medically cleared midway through the season, he appeared in 15 games and finished with a .239 batting average–not bad for someone making their debut on a surgically repaired knee with no preseason.
#10 – Howl
Joining the HRL in 2017 as a member of the Rockies, Howl was an original Trash Panda signed before the team was forced to miss the 2020 season due to the pandemic. Since resuming play in 2021, Howl has set career highs in games played, hits, home runs, and RBI each season she’s been a Panda, and looks to continue the trend in 2023.
#13 – CP
Joining the Trash Pandas midway through the 2022 season after several other rookies failed to materialize, CP made an instant impact with a .297 batting average over 14 games, and tossing a shutout among his six starts. He spent the offseason working on his control when limiting his speed to 63 mph, and looks to be one of the primary Trash Pandas starting pitchers in 2023.
#22 – Reroute
Joining the HRL as a rookie in 2022, Reroute was thrown into the deep end as the team started the year with mostly three-player lineups with Kadishak on the shelf and several rookies failing to show. The lone left-handed bat in the Pandas lineup, he finished with solid numbers, including a team leading 32 walks and a 0.718 OPS–numbers he looks to improve on with a deeper Trash Pandas lineup.Â
#27 – Wiffle Jesus
Wiffle Jesus was a savior for the 2022 Trash Pandas when he joined the team midway through the season, putting up 9 HR in 23 games for a 10.67 HRR. He jumped on the bump to start a few games late in the season as well, finishing as the only Panda with a winning record (2-1). He capped his rookie season as a co-winner of the National Wiffle Nickname of the Year award.
#51 – Toonces
Playing in his 12th season (although two of those were single week fill-ins), Toonces is the most grizzled veteran on the Pandas. Taking the team over after Dee’s torn ACL in 2021, he had a career year at the plate in 2022 with a .289 batting average, 16 HR and a 0.868 OPS, although being forced to start 14 games on the mound didn’t help the Pandas final record.Â
